Before you come

Getting ready is simple.

  1. 1

    Book or walk in

A physical takes longer than a sick visit, so booking through Tebra means less waiting.

  2. 2

    Fast for blood work

No food for about eight hours. Water and your usual medicines are fine.

  3. 3

    Bring your medicine list

And your insurance card, if you have one.

  4. 4

    Leave with answers

Doris goes over your results and any follow-up with you.

  1. What the $89 exam covers

This is your yearly wellness checkup, also called an annual physical. Height, weight and blood pressure, then a full physical: heart and lungs, abdomen, skin, lymph nodes, reflexes and range of motion. We go over your history, the medicines you take, anything that's changed since last year and which vaccines you're due for. If something needs follow-up, we make a plan with you and send any prescription to your pharmacy.

  2. What blood work adds

Some things only show up in blood. For $160 total, visit and labs together, we run a complete blood count, a metabolic panel, a lipid panel and an A1c. That checks for anemia and infection, kidney and liver function, electrolytes, cholesterol and triglycerides, and your average blood sugar over the last three months. It's how diabetes, prediabetes, high cholesterol and kidney problems get caught before you feel anything.

  3. One bill

When you pay cash, the lab is billed through us, so you don't get a second bill from a lab you never picked. The cash price is the price, and we tell you before we draw anything.

  4. If you have insurance

Most plans cover one preventive visit a year at no cost to you, and we bill your plan. Heads up: if the visit turns into treating a problem, like a new pain or a medication change, your insurer may bill part of it as a regular office visit, and a copay or deductible can apply. We'll tell you in the room if that's about to happen. We take most major plans and Medicare. We don't take SoonerCare. Blood work goes to an outside lab, and how it's billed depends on your plan, so ask us before your draw.

  5. Not a DOT or sports physical

Those are separate exams with their own forms and prices. A DOT or CDL physical is $130 and you get the certificate that day. A school or sports physical is $39 and we fill out the form before you leave. An annual physical won't count for either.

Questions

Common questions

How much is a physical without insurance?

$89 for the exam. $160 if you add blood work, and that price includes the visit. It is not $89 plus labs on top.

What blood tests are in the $160?

A complete blood count (CBC), a comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP), a lipid panel and a hemoglobin A1c. Together they check for anemia, kidney and liver function, electrolytes, cholesterol and blood sugar.

Do I need an appointment?

No, you can walk in. But a physical takes longer than a sick visit, so booking a time through Tebra means less waiting.

Should I fast before blood work?

For the most accurate cholesterol and blood sugar numbers, don't eat for about eight hours beforehand. Water and your usual medicines are fine. If you already ate, we can still run the tests or have you come back for the draw.

Is this the same as a DOT or sports physical?

No. A DOT or CDL physical is $130 and a school or sports physical is $39. They use specific forms and have their own requirements, so book the one you need.

Will insurance cover an annual physical?

Most plans cover one preventive visit a year at no cost to you, and we bill your plan directly. If the visit also treats a problem, part of it may be billed as a regular office visit and a copay can apply. We'll tell you before that happens. Blood work goes to an outside lab and how it's billed depends on your plan, so ask us before your draw.
